An artist battling against his perception of reality while trying to maintain a connection to his family.

Synopsis

After months of preparation, Max Griggs is ready to begin one of his latest compositions: a painting of lilies. Only a few minutes pass and he becomes distraught. With so much emotion behind him, he lashes out at his work and violently attacks the canvas. Having witnessed that outbreak, his wife, Connie, urges him to seek help.

Alongside his wife, Max speaks with his doctor about his frustration. Max finds it difficult to focus as his mind begins to wander. Knowing the full extent of his condition, the doctor recommends a treatment and speaks with Connie about preparing for alternative solutions.

Later, as Max is walking up to the house, he realizes none of his keys will unlock the front door. Scared and upset, he begins to bang and pound for someone to let him inside. Suddenly, a rush of scenes from Max's mind flood the house, but it is not until he finally gets inside when Max finally realizes who he is.

The American Brain Foundation promotes and invests in research across the whole spectrum of brain disease. They believe that when we cure one of these diseases, we will cure many.

Over the past couple of years, our team has worked in partnership with the American Brain Foundation to create a medically-accurate, realistic depiction of Alzheimer’s. With 1 of 5 adults living with a mental illness and more than 5 million Americans suffering from Alzheimer’s, we didn’t want to write a story of fiction for the sake of the big-screen; we wanted to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s by showing not only the devastating toll the disease has on others, but also the toll taken on the people themselves.
